The Pyrates of Portobello will soon be heading into the
studio for their first CD since forming the musical side of the performance
troupe.
"We've had a lot of requests for a CD and though we tried
to make it into the studio last year it we just didn't have the sound pulled
together yet." said PoP founder
Jim Jordan also known as "Captain Wycked Jack" when in character.
Since the famed 'guitar search' woes PoP has added vocalist
Rosie Blum, and
will also be joined by a host of local guest performers and musicians. "Our goal is not only to
produce some great music but to have a lot of fun doing it!" said Michelle
Jordan, PoP's Music Director. "These are our friends and fellow musicians and
we'll have a blast doing this CD!"
PoP plans to have a mix of traditional Celtic and folk
tunes in addition to original music by the group. The album has a tentative
release date for the summer of 2011 with an official release party to be
announced soon after. The CD will be available online through the PoP
website and at their performances.
