Obediah Jib - First Mate (David Zenz)

Obediah hails from Portugal and joined the crew when Captain Jack was attacking Jib's ship. With the captain and most of the fellow crewmembers dead Jib, knowing which side his squid is buttered on quickly negotiated himself onto Captain Wycked Jack's crew. Later he was promoted to the rank of First Mate when the previous occupant met with an unfortunate accident - falling onto Jib's cutlass... four times!

Dave comes to us from Wisconsin but has called Minneapolis his home for years. A veteran of countless appearances at the Bristol Renaissance Festival he transformed into "Obediah Jib" for his first year as a street performer at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. He has honed Jib to be one of the finest street improv characters today and can be found working with kids and adults alike spouting endless reams of historical facts as PoP's resident historian. He has also pursuing stage combat work in rapier and dagger.

Dave was recruited fresh out of the academy by Captain Wycked Jack and the two of them worked the streets for the first time together in 2003 at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. In addition to portraying Jib he also performed in the Combat Chess match at MRF.

His background is in graphic design and development and he is a wealth of historical knowledge of the Renaissance and pirate eras.
