Cat grew up on a small farm in the middle of Nowhere. Literally ? the farm was equidistant from all four borders of Nowhere. If you?d like to argue this fact, good luck; there are no surviving maps of the area. She is also an accomplished horsewoman in both Western and English disciplines. Wait, discipline? Perhaps ?chaos? would be a better word.

For three years, Cat was a vocal music performance major at Southwest Minnesota State University before realizing that even though she was furthering her education and expanding her horizons through school, she was still surrounded by cornfields. She escaped to Uptown Minneapolis, where she fell in with a bunch of vegetarian drum circle hippies.

Feeling that she hadn?t yet sufficiently embarrassed her conservative parents, Cat decided to audition for the Minnesota Renaissance Festival in 2003 as a street entertainer. She quite naturally developed the character ?Rin, Peasant Mud Sculptress?, and reveled in the opportunity to play in the dirt, mingle with rogues and drunkards, eat lunch without utensils, and sing without provocation. She even got paid for it?sort of!

In 2004, Cat jumped aboard with the Pyrates of Portobello for a season. After getting her feet wet ? figuratively and literally ? she gave up piracy to pursue a more ?legitimate? means of income. She joined the very classy vocal quintet Shakespeare?s Love Child in 2005 as Juliette Montague, their mezzo soprano, and greatly enjoyed the status upgrade.

However, the truth could not be denied. Cat was a Pyrate at heart ? or at least a scoundrel ? and she missed the simple charms of a rougher life. With SLC on temporary ?creative leave?, she returned to PoP in 2006, and finally feels that she?s ready to take on the role of ?Mistress of Spirits?. Her character, Morgana, has the very important duty of procuring the finest firewater for the hard-working, hard-drinking crew of the Portobello Rose. Her favorite liquor, of course, is rum?straight from the bottle.

The best part about being Mistress of Spirits is that Morgana hangs her hammock in the hold of the ship so that she can guard the booze from Pyrates who may try to swipe more than their ration allows. This gives Morgana plenty of opportunity to ?sample? the various liquors well into the night, in order to provide proper quality assurance for the rest of the crew.

Best Quote: "There's naught, no doubt, so much the spirit calms as rum and true religion."

-Lord Byron
